Ride Report/Review: 2013 Tundra Double Cab

This I had the opportunity to take out a brand new mile) 2013 Toyota finished in handsome Magnetic Metallic on Graphite from my HLE. I frequently pick up size pickups from office, I’ve never had a to drive the Tundra, and was very Hertz classifies the Tundra as an S.

— Base MSRP

Double Cab w/6’6 Bed

4×4

i-Force V8 (biggest engine (EPA estimate 13/18, compatible)

Options

Hertz ordered the truck the following options:

Convenience with Bucket Seats (Front bucket seats 8-way adjustable driver’s with power lumbar and 4-way adjustable passenger Fog lamps (Standard bed V8s only); rear window with glass; Under-seat storage Privacy glass on rear windows; Replaces column with center-console gated

Carpet Floor Mats and Sill Protectors +$195

Boards +$345

Curiously, my had SR5 badging despite (apparently) not equipped with the SR5 package. The SR5 includes everything in the Convenience options plus an auto-dim mirror and backup camera, of which were found on my

With options, this stickered out at $33,270.

Pros:

Toyota Tundra Double Cab

The In my opinion, the seats far outclass offered in Ford and GMC/Chevrolet for sure, and I’d say about par Dodge Ram. This was the rental pickup I’ve had with a power seat and lumbar adjuster, which was a touch.

Civilized cabin. The lacks a lot of the butch features GM and Ford play up heavily in interior design which I refreshing (I disagree with here, by the way, which this interior dated). I seeing more car-like inside. The cabin was also quiet on the highway, which never experienced in any of my pickup before. I do agree with auto magazine reviewers some of the controls (radio especially) are too far away from the

Powertrain. The i-Force V8 engine hard and the 6-speed automatic had shifting.

Cons:

Size. is a large truck and navigating any sort of suburban parking lot or can be a challenge. Can be especially difficult backup sensors or a camera. light steering makes multi-point turning maneuvers

Fuel economy. I averaged 16 MPG over mostly highway not reaching the EPA estimate. I attribute mostly to the engine being new and not in; also possible that the renter filled up with E85 and not unleaded.

Finally, Hertz to order the most important a bedliner! I’ve never a rental pickup not equipped a bedliner. Fortunately, I had moving on hand, but I expect if anyone anything in the bed it will be covered in in no time. I was very surprised at omission given the low cost

In short, I now have a new favorite rental available from I hope National adds the to its fleet as well! The only I might like the Dodge Ram is the available Sirius satellite (despite the radio in this having a SAT button, there is no XM as that is a separate option). the Tundra was great!
