FR-S vs Yaris/Tercel, yes you read right

Well this is a forum. In the 80’s many a family bought a Camry or and drove it for 300k+ miles minimal maintenance costs, made a reputation for building a that literally outlasted the

Then the 90’s EG civic and Honda upped the ante, proof reliability (as long as you the timing belt) plus a fun to double wishbone suspension on all for for $11k. It was such a good car its popularity and tuner scene folks of this generation to how nice these were for the

Then when Honda the unique suspension it didn’t much sense to buy a civic, the Tercel/Yaris was the car to get if you wanted decent gas and a half a million trouble-free Problem is they are not fun to drive, handling is down right for someone coming from a or EG Civic.

If it weren’t for the exchange and funny things going on currency/world banks the FR-S have come in under so lets take the price out of the for this discussion and consider is a car with a $400 monthly for most, which is still when you look back 3 and consider inflation.

The FR-S is similiar to an AE86 in a lot of affordable, fun to drive with handling, not a powerhouse, gets gas milage (again looking the last 3 decades.)

But the big question I may have been for granted is long term

1. Direct Injection. I am not necessarily of direct injection, its been in diesels for decades. But the compression + a bad tank of gas (it happens) could serious damage depending on the of the knock sensor/timing retard.

2. Engine — I have no the track record of these as subarus are sent to the crusher the complicated exspensive all wheel components before he engine

3. Gearbox/clutch, being RWD is a big advantage much easier to replace a bearing with a RWD car, are less hassel than CV

4. LSD- its a torsen.

5. Traction if you disable it can it fail?

6. Cylinder — definately a possible spot, we have high unique chamber/piston design and has a spotty record with cylinder head /gasket

I’ve been waiting for an since they came seems supply gets and lower. You literally can’t buy one I live. To me this could be a of lack of confidence by Toyota, I am they don’t want a of the MR2 Spyder which was a serious as far as reliability.
