Toyotafest 2013: A Family

Next Chapter

As I mentioned in opening post from 2013, it seems almost the debut of the Scion FR-S a spark among Toyota in Southern California. It could be a coincidence of course, but for whatever the this year’s Toyotafest bigger and better than

The feeling was evident not just the gates of the show itself, but out in the parking lot which was also with Toyotas, from of VIP sedans…

… to classics like Corona Coupe. It seems the show sells out early year so the Toyotafest parking lot as an overflow show area for that didn’t register in

Here we have a fine of tastefully done Scion xB. outrageous here – instead the car is set off by details like shaved a Noblesse front grill and a set of 15-inch Enkei Big End Barrel Perfect daily commuter I say.

Also taking a page the ‘simple is best’ book is MX83 Cressida. The car looks cool with just a and set of factory third generation wheels. The color on this also reminded me of the Cressida-converted II I shot in Japan. I wonder how of our Japanese readers are getting right now?

How about super cool ’74 Hilux Not only was this little in immaculate condition , everything it is pure 1970s, from the green body color and mags with white tires…

… to the Honda mini strapped into the bed. Southern California retro.

2010 Tacoma meanwhile what a few decades of pickup evolution will do. Of course particular truck is a bit different your typical Tacoma…

…in that its 1GR-FE V6 is equipped a custom front mount turbo kit along with a of other high performance

As is always the case at Toyotafest, the selection was not to be missed. The range factory-spec restorations, tastefully street cars, and even a few up drift warriors.

This white AE86 coupe to Mickey Andrade from HRE and as you might expect is rolling on a set of the company’s custom-built rims.

a little look under the of Mickey’s 86. Hmm, I’m not sure if looks like any 1600cc engine I’ve seen

Another one of the AE86s that my eye was this beautiful red coupe. the exception of the Work Equip 03 and a few suspension bits, this USDM GT-S was in absolute condition.

The group of VIP-styled sedans at this year’s was also pretty strong. these cars are typically of their own independent scene but at they are welcomed right the other groups of Toyota and enthusiasts.

It’s always nice to see thinking outside the box with color choice, and this GS certainly stood out in the sea white, and silver luxury cars. get a load of those enormous

Here’s the rarely seen IS300 SportCross wagon quite mean on a set of concave Enkei NT03+Ms.

With so amazing cars around, favorites at an event like is extremely difficult. Something this fully restored RA20 Celica would be high on my list though.

set of Riverage wheels in amazing I’m not sure if I even want to about what these are worth…

Here’s another clean first generation this one a liftback model been retrofitted with the nicer non-US front and bumpers.

Rally anyone? This Options -prepped 1980 lift-back looked like it was to leave the show behind and some dirt stages.

powered by a built 3T-C with a hot cam and sidedraft carbs and is running AE86 GT-S suspension and a Supra rear

This amazingly clean Corolla sedan on BBS wheels is example of underdog cars love at Toyotafest. It’s nice to see someone putting a solid effort into a car many would consider a commuter.

When you think classic cars, it’s to think that 1980s like the AW11 MR2 are quickly up on being 30 years old. I’m just feeling old myself? clean white machine was one of well-kept first generation at the show.

Here’s a very example of a 70 chassis Supra a built 1JZ under the hood. though Toyota never the 1J-equipped cars to the US market, an extremely popular swap for looking to replace their 7m motors.

The ‘Midnight Squad’ Corolla pretty standard on the outside…

… but the GM LS V8 under the hood most does not! I can only what it’s like to a a car like this on the street that much power.

well known car that an appearance at Toyotafest is the supercharged ‘No Style’ 1975 Corolla. The blower sitting atop the always gets people

A bit more on the mild side – but no cool – is this ’82 Corolla with a tidy 4A-GE and a set of Hayashi Street wheels.

on the subject of the Hayashi Street, out this FR-S which is equipped with a set of the classic but in a modern 17-inch size.

It might not be the first wheel you of for the FR-S, but the result is a unique and also a nice throwback to the and other Toyota sports of the past.

That’s a good to finish off my second look at the Toyotafest. Tomorrow I’ll return to things up with a Spotlight-O-Rama.
