Stereo From 98 Tarago

This is a guide detailing how to and replace the stereo head of a 98 Toyota Tarago (Previa or Tarago is what they are in Australia.

From my research is not much difference between the so this guide should be to all Tarago’s between 90-99 am not 100% certain).

I have this guide because i able to find any FULL on how to replace the stereo and thought i make a nice simple

Equipment needed:

Steps in removing

Step 1

Step 4

I was unable to undo the with a screw driver as were to tight and the screw kept slipping. I used a 8mm and wrench to loosen the screws. thy were lose i used the driver to remove them.

Remove the bracket that the head unit to the middle compartment by removing the 4 screws (2 on side) that hold the in place.

Step 8

Remove the 4 that hold the head to the bracket.

Using a flat screw driver, place it the metal screw and pull it up, leverage. Pull the head out.

Step 9

Place new head unit into the (if you have to, you may need to push the tabs flat). Screw the back onto the center and your head unit now sit nicely in its new home. (My head fitted into the existing i don’t know how other units will fit)

Step 10

Now you have to connect new head unit to the existing Make sure your is disconnected so you don’t short anything. Solder your to make a good solid and cover them in electrical Once done connect head unit and connect the back and test your new to make sure it works all speakers are working etc). this is done you can put everything in place.

Step 11

Place the center back in.

Put one side of the air duct place (making sure you damage the foam) and push the side in gently or you will the foam.

Step 12

Now you have to put back in the cup it is pretty mush the reverse of how you it out, again be patient you get it back in.

Connect your lighter cable clip

Screw back all 6 screws.

Put you box compartment by putting one side the socket and pushing the other back in.

Put back you ash tray and cover, remembering to connect your alarm light if you one.
