Customer Question

Hi, my name have a Toyota Corona E 1.8, Model E-AT211-AEMEK, 7A-FE 1762cc, year: 260000Km. When car is cold nice. Problem appears engine reach normal i.e. car is shaking during has not enough power and is hesitating. are happening from low RPM up to 3000rpm. 3000rpm up to 3500 approx. is ok with wormed engine. bit higher rpm than this and car is again. With 1st gear that is accelerating smooth engine at normal temperature. If is switched off for about 2-3 minutes and again, car is accelerating smooth at the (I suppose because temperature little bit). Best George

This be an airleak after the airflow any air dragged in here isn’t by the ECU and so not compensated for and can lean the engine out and can allow the engine to rev up when not causing rough running.

As its a fault it tends not to turn on the light and you can sometimes hear a noise with the engine

Check the hose clips for and inspect the trunking for any cracks or and also all the vacuum system, the bore pipes and fittings for and missing parts.

The best way to a leak is to have the engine and warm and then spray gas /propane around each in turn. If the engine rev’s up found your leak.

Work your way through possible joint one at a time and you find it. I use a slightly flattened of brake pipe and some hose from the can of lighter gas to a spraying ‘wand’ and allow a blast of gas into each especially those difficult to with large implements.

also worth getting the pressure checked as if this is low due to a filter or faulty regulator or a poorly pump will all in insufficient fuel being to the engine

Might also be worth the wiring and connector to the airflow for any signs of corrosion or damage. you can do a fault find if you unplug the and run the engine without it.

if the engine is the same then chances are the or the connection to it is faulty

Air leaks are temperature dependent as gaps can or close up as things expand heat, so the weather and engine can effect them.

This them to be quite intermittent in the of mild leaks

its also worth cleaning the meter by removing it from the car and the exposed sensor wires the tube with a brake or cleaner — ensure the cleaner is one of the old fashioned, non Eco type does not leave a residue

On no touch the sensor wires anything physical as they are fragile
