Toyota Cressida Wagon I

Dennis is back! He’s really working to get back in the GBXM saddle. You say he works as many jobs as Sanderson (see page 42, issue), only they’re all full-time! Despite renovating a as old as the United States, working at an Opel dealership, AND joining the National Guard, Dennis has a little more midnight oil month.

What follows is his with Jordan Robinson, a Information Systems graduate Virginia Commonwealth University working in the parts department of the Toyota dealership. Isn’t it how we’re all interviewing people on the far of the planet?

[dd] What do you drive and makes it so special?

[jr] My car – and closest to my heart – is my 1988 MR2 Supercharged, which I daily and weekend autocross. My latest is a 1986 Toyota Cressida

[dd] How did you come to own it, and why did you decide to buy particular Cressida?

[jr] always loved Cressidas, the X7 generation. After finishing a project 1990 Cressida this summer, I saw the wagon on and had to have it. I drove up to northern with my buddy’s trailer and it up for $600 in a barely-running state.

[dd] What have you done to the Cressida?

[jr] I the engine (a first for me) and replaced seal and gasket in the motor, as as replacing the lifters and giving it an all refresh. While the motor was I sourced a W58 5-speed transmission a 1986.5 Supra and all the parts I need to row my own gears, including a driveshaft from a local fab I also replaced every system component, every end oil seal, and rebuilt the front I also had to put in a cheap mechanical temp gauge since my gauge doesn’t work.

[dd] What are your plans for this machine?

I have a set of P-Type Celica-Supra I’m refurbishing, so those will go on The car WILL be lowered as soon as I can up for the parts I need. For the front I’m to shorten the front struts to fit MR2 inserts, weld on Techno Toy (T3) coilovers with plates and roll center For the rear, I plan on running shocks for their shorter cutting the springs (for and a custom T3 adjustable panhard

I may end up rattle-canning the car, since the paint is just in horrid and I’ve also got grand for a custom exhaust running off of a header to open up that 5M I seriously think that, the right exhaust, the 5M-GE is one of the sounding engines Toyota has made. It may not be a powerhouse, but man it can sound

[dd] Share one of your moments you’ve had with car?

[jr] I really to get it finished to bring to a local night meet-up, so I had to do a ton of work quickly to get it drivable for the first I just BARELY made it in and everything worked nearly-perfectly time! I couldn’t believe it.

[dd] Are you a gearhead? What that mean to you?

Absolutely. I live and breathe every day. I love about, driving, working on, about, pretty much to do with cars – especially obscure, Japanese stuff.

You can the full interview with where he gets into details of what he’s had to do to get boxy roxy wagon for the road in issue 1.09 of Magazine. Your digital helps us get closer to our dream of the gearheads of the world full-time. here.
