This is an article of interest young lady who bought a Toyota Camry with Gen 5 navigation 3 years ago from the Dealership and experienced trouble the navigation unit as soon as the expired.

She was excited about the In-Dash Gen 5  navigation package included an upgraded stereo, radio, and GPS touchscreen navigation. upgrade  by Denso is very and added $2,000 to the price of the at the time. The touchscreen for this works great and the built-in is extremely convenient to always in the car (versus putting up and taking a hand-held GPS each time you get the car).

Unfortunately a few months the 3 year warranty expired on the the touchscreen display went All the functionality appeared to work, but the was so dim that you could only it was on by shining a flashlight at it. So to the dealer it for a repair estimate. The Toyota after assessing the unit that it could not be repaired and be replaced. Cost to replace a unit that cost 3 years ago…..$3,000 dollars. So in 3 years, the price of this went up 50%. The dealer was to charge labor for looking at it but the rep was so shocked himself by the price he waived the fee. Good Relations move by the dealer.
