Modify 10/26/2005 (SC430 information)

After modifying my 1998 over the past 19 months, I learned a great deal of about the car and aftermarket parts.  amazing just how many you can find out there for the 2 nd generation If you are willing to spend the time and you can easily build up a GS that’s not special but unique.

Among all the I have put on my car, wheels are one area that requires of study and research in order to get a that’s perfect for your and style.  Make one mistake and you can be with wheels that fit well, rub, or even hit brakes.  It’s very from getting other for the car, where you just on the model and that’s it.  wheels, you have to decide on the width, offset, and disk On top of that for the tires you also run the same problems on tires as

I have had countless of people to me and ask about the fitments for their so I have decided to compose guide, which hopefully can some pictures on how you should a fitment for your car.  note that I am just from my experience so sometimes I be wrong or the setup isn’t

Definitions

First of all I want to go some definitions, some of are official and some of them are my terms.  But I think they are helpful.

First of all is offset.  If you have no what wheel offset is, read the link from below.  It’s extremely

Offset is definitely the most area when it comes to your wheels, and it goes by side with the widths of the

Another thing to keep in is the disk type.  This is crucial when you plan to big brakes on your car.  in mind, if you want to see whether big (Brembo, AP Racing, Stoptech, will fit under the wheel, the type of the wheel is the more Offset might have to do with it but disk type is the important.  You need high setup in order to clear the brake calipers.  With or low disk setup you will get more lips on the wheels but likely you won’t be able to fit any big

Most people with they lower their as well.  There are a lot of way to measure how a car is lowered, but when it comes to and wheels fitment, I think the gap theory works pretty (mainly because overall of the wheel with tires be different from a setup to and the wheel gap (the gap between the top of the and the fender) is what determines you might rub or not.

I would the wheel gap by finding out how many you can stick in the wheel gap by placing finger(s) horizontally.  This is horizontal, not tilted or angled.  each finger is about Ѕ from my experience (of course person’s fingers are different, but is a good ballpark).  So say you have 1 gap that means you have Ѕ inch gap, if you have 2 it’s about 1 inch

Last definitions would be rolling and trimming/shaving.  Often when you want to put on aggressive on the car, you are required to work on the a little bit in order to avoid (when the wheels get way too close to the On the GS and the IS, I strongly suggest trimming or the fender rather than Rolling fenders on the GS and IS could be risky since you might crack the paint, while you can get the same result but it would be easy to control and it is harder to the paint.  There will be article about fender and shaving on the GS and IS.

GS wheels fitment

The stock GS 17 wheels, as far as I know, are with 235/45/17.  I have two sets of aftermarket wheels for the 19 VolkRacing AV3 19×8.5 +38 front and +38 rear, and now I have the 20 HRE 540R +32 front and 20×10 +43 rear.  I classify my 19 setup as a conservative as it doesn’t flush totally the fender but have zero issue, whereas with the the setup is very aggressive and is perfect with the fender, but has rubbing which was fixed easy.

The following are the wheel that I would suggest for the GS (if you want to have a staggered just put whatever for the front in the When I say the setup is conservative, it you don’t have to do any fender When I say aggressive, that you probably have to do the rolling or And in the case of professional, then major suspension changes have to be made in order to fit the and should be left to professionals I won’t go over how here.
