The LMP1 regulations allow for any engine configuration, as powerplants be balanced according to energy through the use of fuel flow

“Engine experts still on what will be the best architecture,” Vasselon said. “Is it a turbocharged engine or is it a big, aspirated engine running at low Our engine people are convinced a big, naturally aspired will be better than a turbo. It’s our belief. We find out.”

Vasselon not disclose the displacement of the powerplant, but believed it would be similar to the V8 architecture the Japanese manufacturer employs in its TS030 Hybrid.

A significant change, however, come with the use of the capacitor-based recovery system on both instead of just rear that’s seen on its current-spec car.

“For if you target 6mJ and you manage only you don’t get fuel advantage the last 1MJ of hybrid and you lose the difference between 4 and 6. So at some you would be better to go for the 4MJ class.”

Vasselon said a final on its ERS configuration would have to be during the car’s homologation, is expected to come early year.

“It’s such a big that we started [development] a long time ago, at in terms of simulations,” he said. “At the we’re full throttle on the We’re a little bit late. at the moment finalizing the design of the and starting the production. Our target is to a roll-out at the beginning of next
