And Plug-In Makes Four: Prius’s Expanding Family Toyota Motor Sales INSIDE The interior of the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid. More Photos #x00bb; THE Toyota Prius may not be a … magnet, but it provokes strong reactions often bordering on love or hate. These emotional responses helped Toyota establish its original hybrid car as a niche vehicle with a devoted following. But there is now an entire line of Priuses designed to be less polarizing and more attuned to the needs of middle-of-the-road Americans. In other words, as it has gone mainstream, the Prius has been Camryfied. Since last summer, the familiar compact liftback version has been joined by the Prius V wagon, the Prius C subcompact ...

Review: 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid | The Truth About Cars

Review: 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid By Alex L. Dykes on September 2, 2012 Public beta tests are common in the computer world where a group of fanatics pound your beta to … and help you find the problems. In the automotive world this activity is not only rare, it runs contrary to the cash spent on dressing future cars in swirly vinyl. The Prius plug-in is different. Toyota built 600 demonstrators and sent them to large corporations, Zipcar fleets and, of course the press. Even TTAC was allowed to drive one for a week. What does that have to do with the final product? And how does it stack up against the Volt, Plug-in Fusion and the 2013 Accord Plug-in? Let’s find out. There is ...

Toyota Prius+ Review: first drive | It's Got Wheels

Toyota Prius+ Review: first drive The ‘+’ in Prius+ should tell you all you need to know about this new Toyota that further expands the company’s hybrid line-up. However, there’s a little more to the Prius+ than a third row of seats and 135mm extended length. For starters, the battery pack in the Prius+ MPV is a lithium-ion item rather than the older tech nickel-metal hydride type used in the Prius hatch. On top of this, the MPV’s battery now resides under the centre console between the front seats instead of under the boot floor. This allows more room for the third row of seats and a larger boot. As importantly as the extra space it frees up by being repositioned, the lithium-ion ...

Toyota Prius Plus (2013)

Toyota Prius Plus The Toyota Prius+ is a new vehicle, designed from the ground up. Its advanced, cutting-edge exterior design hallmarks it as an evolution of the original Prius . Though still compactly sized to optimise its aerodynamic performance, the Prius+ provides, as its name suggests, a significant increase in space and passenger accommodation. It is 135 mm longer than a standard Prius, 30 mm wider, and 85 mm higher, with a wheelbase extended by 80 mm, making it possible to accommodate 7 people in three rows. Instantly recognisable as the latest member of the Prius family through its characteristic, triangle silhouette, the new Prius+ combines Toyota’s Under Priority frontal design ...

Leases for plug-in electric cars may offer big savings | Albuquerque Journal…

Leases for plug-in electric cars may offer big savings PUBLISHED: Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 12:05 am Automakers have sweetened deals in recent months for plug-in electric cars in a bid to boost sales and move the vehicles off dealer lots as the end of the year nears. General Motors knocked $5,000, or 13 percent, off the sticker price of the Chevrolet Volt this summer. Earlier in the year, Nissan dropped the price of its electric Leaf, helping boost its sales. It’s now offering a three-year lease at $199 a month. You can drive around in a plug-in hybrid for next to nothing if you already were spending $200 a month on gas, says John O’Dell, a senior editor at auto site Edmunds.com . ...

Toyota Prius Accessories & Parts — CARiD.com

TOYOTA PRIUS ACCESSORIES PARTS About Toyota Prius The Toyota Prius got its start in Japan at the end of the ’90s before eventually being released in the US for the 2001 model year. Honda’s Insight takes credit as being the first hybrid vehicle offered to American drivers, but the Prius makes an argument for being just as influential. It slotted right between the subcompact Echo and the perennial Toyota favorite, the Corolla. The first-generation Prius combines power from a 1.5L four-cylinder engine with an electric drive motor. The gas-powered part of the equation was good for 70 horsepower while the electric drive motor kicked in with an additional 44 hp. Fuel mileage between ...

Prius Plug-In Quietly Ranks No. 2 — KickingTires

Prius Plug-In Quietly Ranks No. 2 The much-ballyhooed sales figures for the Chevrolet Volt hide another green-car success: the Toyota Prius Plug-In. Toyota’s rechargeable hybrid hummed along with 1,652 sales in September, and it’s only available in 15 coastal states. You won’t be able to buy it in the rest of the U.S. until next year. That hasn’t stopped the Prius Plug-In with 7,734 sales so far this year from earning a comfortable second place between the Volt and the Nissan Leaf. The Prius Plug-In has been on sale since last fall and spent much of the following spring among the fastest-selling cars in America. In some months, it even outpaced the first-place Volt, which ...
