Toyota’s Crown jewel This classic saloon stays on its throne, enshrining old-school style and quality The Straits Times 05 Feb 2011 Toyota’s chief engineer in charge of the Crown probably has the easiest job among his peers. In rolling out a new Crown, he never has to contend with flashy designs, come up with new-fangled features or push the performance envelope. The Toyota Crown is a study in old-school values such as conservatism, modesty and understatedness. Where less is more and more is often too much. And a new model hardly changes from the last. Yes, the body lines may be nipped and tucked here and there. But from all angles, it will still be recognisably a Crown, near ...

After driving a hybrid Crown, we think Toyota PH should sell it here — Car News

After driving a hybrid Crown, we think Toyota PH should sell it here Remember the Toyota Crown . Before the Camry became the go-to sedan for corporate types, the Crown was the Japanese carmaker’s offering for those who wanted non-European automotive pampering. Back in the mid-’90s, it was the choice of politicians and company presidents. We became reacquainted with this majestic sedan during a test drive of Toyota’s hybrid vehicles last week, held at the Spa Nishiura Motor Park in Aichi, Japan. The last Crown in our country was the eighth-generation model; Japan is now on generation 14. So our first impression upon seeing the 2013 Crown was: What happened to the nondescript ...

I also own a Mazda 6, so I can give you a pretty good comparison between a regular Prius hybrid, a regular gas car, and a Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid car. The reason why I leased a Prius plug-in hybrid was because Toyota was offering a $6,500 rebate on the vehicle. ...
