9 Unique And Funny Car Names

9 Unique And Funny Car Names What’s in a name?  That’s a question that can be inserted for many topics. A person, place or thing.  What makes it sing? Awful rhyming attempt aside, there are a number of brands out there that have crafty names.  They’re witty.  They put on a smile on your face.  And most of all, it’s a moniker that sticks in most people’s memory soon after they come across it. The same could be said with a car name.  Whether that plays a role in the buyer’s decision with one car over another is up for debate, but this piece is more about unearthing some of the best car names to grace car lots and magazines. Here’s my  list of the best car names currently ...

Industry Squawk: Let’s Play The Name Game

Industry Squawk: Let’s Play The Name Game June 13, 2013 The automotive world used to be a simple place. Luxury cars either had two things. An American name. Or a European alphanumeric designation. Continental, Deville, Brougham, Park Avenue, Imperial. These were quintessential American names that gave forth an all-American luxury experience. On the flip side were those crafty Europeans. Mercedes had a C, E, S and SL. Audi had stupendous numbers that could go all the way up  to 5000. BMW put their numbers first, and Jaguar put their numbers last. Saab and Peugeot did their part of making their special cars an S, STI, or an SPG. But no one cared too much about them. The world of luxury ...

The King of New Zealand CampervansToyota Hiace Commuter DX Hi-Top…

The King of New Zealand Campervans In November 2009, my partner and I traveled to New Zealand to attend a back-to-earth gathering. Planning to be in the country for a few months, we figured that it would be economical to buy a campervan and sell it at the end of our trip. Indeed, NZ van rentals start around $100 per day. A three-month rental would put you somewhere around $9,000. We spent a week in Auckland buying our van and having it prepared. We knew we had bought a great van, but it was a few weeks until we realized we had bought the King of NZ campervans. Why the King? This is going to sound awful. But once we started driving, over the weeks, we started to feel a bit sorry for 99 percent ...

Cars That Look Just Like Their Names | AfroAutos

Share and Enjoy The Mitsubishi Galant is indeed elegant in its own way. It is just as its name suggests. Many other cars look just like their name. Derived from the  French term galant/chivalrous, here is a car that lives up to its name, hugging the road elegantly, like a Victorian lady at an afternoon tea party.   Ever sat and wondered how car manufacturers name their cars? I know I have. It is a tad interesting when you begin to reflect on how some cars are always named after human names and how sun just seem to pop up out of the blues. Like do you know the Mercedes is named after the daughter of the man who helped the pioneering duo overcome financial challenges? Or that all Lamborghinis ...

World’s fastest cars: A timeline As soon as the first motor carriage rolled out of Karl Benz’s workshop way back in 1886, man has wanted to go ever faster. Capable of a heady 8mph, that first three-wheeled carriage was by default the fastest road car in the world — because it was the only one. In 2011, a full 125 years later, the stakes are rather higher. With the fastest road car now capable of nearly 270mph, it’s going to be interesting watching how far we can go, and how fast those further records tumble. How long until the first production road car that can achieve 300mph? For the first time ever (we think), here we chart the fastest road cars ever made. You might ...

Six cars with daft names — Covered mag, presented by Gocompare.com

Six cars with daft names Many things caught the attention of car fanciers when Ferrari unveiled its new flagship LaFerrari at the Geneva auto show yesterday. The bubble cockpit. The hybrid engine. The £1m price tag. The prospect of getting a car insurance quote for it which won’t cost the equivalent of the gross domestic product of Norfolk. But most of all, it was the name, which sounds rather more like a seedy revue bar rather than a world-beating hypermobile. On this none-more-topical note, here’s a run-down of some other cars with questionable names. Ford Probe The one which spawned a thousand “I’ve got a Probe up my rear end!” jokes on the motorway. Despite the silly name, ...

2012 May Andrex Extra Soft Blog Roll

It#039;s all a load of bollocks, quite frankly A lot can happen in a year, you know! A year seems like an awfully long time. Three hundred and sixty-five days. Literally some time longer if it happens to be one of those pesky little leap year wassanames. My way of gauging years though has changed throughout time. Whereby most people would rely on the fact that New Years Eve and New Years Day are generally the accepted time to greet the arrival of a new year, generally mine would be the last weekend in March. Why? Because that is when my kitchen clock can begin to tell the correct time again. That’s my new year, when British Summertime (haaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Oh. Erm…) arrives. ...

Rex Parker Does the NYT Crossword Puzzle: WEDNESDAY, Apr. 16, 2008 — Edward…

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 Relative difficulty: Medium THEME: DISAPPEARING INK (57A: -) — Four theme clues read, in order, INK, IN, I, — I was torn between rating this Medium and Medium-Challenging. I got through it in pretty good time, but as I was doing it, I had many moments where I thought Wow, that was rough. I think that a year ago, this puzzle might have taken me at least twice as long to do. Knowing words like AVISO ( 30D: Dispatch boat ) and MARL ( 11D: Clayey sediment ) (unknown to me when I started doing puzzles) kept me in the game when zingers like PHAROS ( 45D: Ptolemy’s lighthouse locale ) and ANOXIA ( 6D: It may cause a coma ) threatened to do me in. Overall, ...

The Basics of Car Model Naming | eBay

The Basics of Car Model Naming In the world of consumer products, the name of a product can be almost as important as its quality. A disturbing or confusing name can turn an otherwise effective product into something that buyers instinctively avoid. This is particularly true in the automotive arena, where names like Ford Explorer. Chevrolet Corvette. and Dodge Ram are recognized while others, like Pontiac Fiero. Chevrolet Lumina. and Buick LeSabre. may be less familiar. The process of naming a new car begins long before the car is ready to be released, and in some cases is done years in advance. In many instances, much of the car’s future rests on the choice of a name. When buyers begin ...
